Email Forwards

We’ve all gotten email forwards that we’ve ignored. But this one is actually worth reading so I’m reposting it here.

As the weather is warming up, we need to take some precautions – more sunscreen, more water, and now this. If you are a pregnant female or a human who doesn’t want cancer, please keep reading…

Please do NOT turn on A/C as soon as you enter the car.

Open the windows after you enter your car,
and then turn ON the AC after a couple of minutes.

Here’s why:
According to research, the car’s dashboard, seats, a/c ducts…
in fact ALL of the plastic objects in your vehicle, emit Benzene,
a Cancer causing toxin. A BIG CARCINOGEN.

In addition to causing cancer, Benzene poisons your bones,
causes anemia and reduces white blood cells.

Prolonged exposure will cause Leukemia and increases the risk
of some cancers.
It can also cause miscarriages in pregnant females.

Acceptable Benzene level indoors is: 50mg per sq.ft.
A car parked indoors, with windows closed, will contain 400-800 mg of Benzene.

If parked outdoors, under the sun, at a temperature above 60 degrees F,
the Benzene level goes up to 2000-4000 mg, 40 times the acceptable level.
People who get into the car, keeping the windows closed, will inevitably
inhale, in quick succession, excessive amounts of the BENZENE toxin.

Benzene is a toxin that affects your kidneys and liver.
What’s worse, it is extremely difficult for your body to expel
this toxic stuff from your body.

So please open the windows and door of your car – give it some time for the
interior to air out -(dispel the deadly stuff) – before you enter the vehicle.

**Now, I will say that there are certain groups who deem this an urban legend. I am of the belief, however, that where there is smoke, there is fire. So while the info may look mixed, I have to say, plastics are really dangerous and there is definitive evidence that benzene is released in warm weather. So with that, even if there’s not a clear causal link established, I think it is wise to air out the car to reduce exposure. We are exposed to so many toxins as it is, that combined, it all adds up to a sum greater than its parts. The more we can reduce our various exposures, the better off we’ll be. And let’s face it, do we really want to wait and see if it harms our health? I sure don’t.

Week of Pictures – Day 5

Friday! It’s here!

Oh, we’ve all been there.

If you’re planning to get out and enjoy the nice weather this weekend, great idea! We all need more Vitamin D.

Did you know Vitamin D deficiency is a major health concern these days? It’s linked to a number of health issues. You can read more about it here. It doesn’t help that most of us are inside all day on our computers.

So getting out and getting some natural rays is great. Just make sure you don’t burn.

My favorite sunscreen?

Badger. No nasty chemicals. Just a safe sunscreen with minimal ingredients.

Enjoy your weekend and be safe!

Week of Pictures – Day 4

We’ve all heard the old saying, “Laughter is the best medicine.”

It’s true!

Happiness is an integral part of health. Health isn’t just about how much we exercise and what we eat, although those are important. Health includes the downtime and the fun time, too.

I’ve been trying to hammer this one home for a while now.

(The Benefits of Laughter table comes from this article. Read it. It’s great! And less blurry!)

So grab a buddy. Get a giggle going. And choose to believe you’re the funniest people in the world.

So now I ask…
What’s the funniest thing that happened to you this week?

Week of Pictures – Day 3

Some of my best friends are doctors. And I love them.

Plus, doctors are smart. They’ve had lots of schooling. So they know stuff.

But here’s the thing…as much as I love my friends and as much as the doctors know stuff, I don’t want to be sick.

And I want that tropical vacay for myself!

Can I get an Amen?

Week of Pictures – Day 2

I think we can all relate to this!

Today’s picture is a reminder to keep your blood sugar stable.

Don’t go for long periods without eating – when you get to the super hungry place you become tired, irritable, and more likely to reach for unhealthy foods.

And don’t choose foods that cause spikes in blood sugar, either. That causes your body to respond with bursts of insulin to bring your blood sugar back down, which then makes you want to jack it up again for a quick boost of energy…and that means the wrong foods.

What foods cause spikes? You guessed it. Sugar.

Choose foods with fiber, protein, and healthy fats so you don’t Jekyll and Hyde your friends and family.

We’ve all been on the giving end of this. And the receiving end, too. And it ain’t pretty. Am I right?
